PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — Haiti’s chief prosecutor on Tuesday asked a judge to charge Prime Minister Ariel Henry in the slaying of the president and asked officials to bar him from leaving the country.

The order filed by Port-au-Prince prosecutor Bed-Ford Claude came on the same day that he had requested Henry meet with him and explain why a key suspect in the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse called him twice just hours after the killing.

He also asked officials to bar PM Ariel Henry from leaving the country.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A Louisiana man who is the oldest living World War II veteran in the United States has marked his 112th birthday.

Lawrence Brooks celebrated Sunday with a drive-by party at his New Orleans home hosted by the National World War II Museum, <a class="" title="Lawrence Brooks, oldest living WWII veteran and Louisiana native, celebrates 112th birthday" href="https://www.nola.com/news/article_e716151e-13fa-11ec-b198-ab25f14b6c7f.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate</a> reported. He also received greetings from Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, who tweeted, “Mr. Brooks, the entire state of Louisiana thanks you for your service and we all wish you a joyous birthday.”

Drafted in 1940, he was a private in the Army’s mostly Black 91st Engineer Battalion.

Oldest US veteran of WWII celebrates his 112th birthday

VAROSHA, Cyprus (AP) — The freshly paved street with its new bicycle lane markings meanders through the heart of abandoned Varosha, in ethnically split Cyprus’ breakaway north, to a crumbling cinema in front of Savvas Constantinides’ family home.

Yet a rope line prevents the Greek Cypriot cardiologist from walking down a shrub-festooned side street to see the home he fled as a 6-year-old refugee in 1974, while Turkish troops approached the Famagusta suburb.

Parliament member Fawzia Yusuf H. Adam is well aware of the challenges in winning votes in a nation where women often remain marginalized. In an interview with The Associated Press, she described the struggle of leading a foreign ministry staff that was overwhelmingly male.
